Before you storm off, try trashing your InDesign preferences:
Close and relaunch InDesign, and IMMEDIATELY hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences. You must be extremely fast on the keyboard (if you don’t see the confirmation prompt, you were too slow!)
You may need to do it a couple of times before you get the hang of it.
Let us know how you get on as there are other solutions for you to try if that doesn't work.
I have tried on different computer on fresh windows installation... same problem
I know this may be obvious, but try checking for updates to both InDesign, AND your operating system. Sometimes that fixes weird issues. Or maybe try removing some fonts you are not using.
Also, sometimes I try a process of elimination. Try making a brand new blank file, and slowly add a few elements from your existing file to see when or if the crash happens.
Sorry it's still not working. I've been tied up in work all day and only getting back to the forums.

You can also export your InDesign file to an IDML. Open the new IDML file and it opens as Untitled. Then save this to a new file.
Don't overwrite your old file. Make sure it's a new name.
There's plenty of reasons why you're experiencing this and I'm sure if you stick with us we can help you resolve it.
In an another computer I have done A clean install, after that I install all the updates to the windows, then I installed the latest insdesign through creative cloud, I install only the fonts I used, I re create the layout... exported to idml, re imported... and the same!? I will kill my self in the end!
the thing is that in the same file it is completely randomly crashing, from time to time i can try to export the stories and after 10 crashes.. it will work, just to make it weirder!
and at the and, I am graphic designer not an adobe debugger.. I don't have the time and the skill to debug indesign.
I am completely overburden with work and now I'm loosing whole days because the indesign not working properly and making me work 3 times more for no reason.
I don't work from hobby and my job now it on the line because now I am seriously behind the schedule
Do you have any font management applications or InDesign plug ins.

Stick with this forum and I bet someone comes up with a solution.
When you uninstalled InDesign did you do it by using the drop down in the Creative Cloud app (see screen shot) and did you subsequently run Adobe Cleaner before re-installing InDesign Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems ?
I told above, I made on a diferent computer a Clean windows instalation! Updated the windows and after that freshly instaled indesign from creative cloud!
I wanted to make sure you'd done it the correct way, so I spelt it out as you hadn't detailed how you'd done the uninstall, clean-up and reinstall.
definitely the problem it is not in installation.

There are other contributors on this forum who have more in-depth knowledge than me who, hopefully, will chime in with further suggestions.
yes the computer's and the installation are perfectly fine and way beyond minimum requirements.
We have a new install of Creative Cloud and are having a similar issue. We still have Creative Suite 5 installed as that is supposed to be supported and not interfere.

I have tried now everything... the only time it crashes less, is if the original files are in local driver and not on server, but even then it crashes but not that often
What is the solution you have taken for this
