When I use the Install app from my CD, it asks for my serial number, which I enter. Then a dialog box appears to say "Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer." Which of course there wouldn't be because it's a new computer. It wants me to select a product from the drop down menu. SC6 Design Standard is not one of the choices. How can I install my very expensive software?
Yes, you're right Ned. I think this thread covers it. It all seems so long ago now.

Your CS6 is an upgrade version.
The CS6 installer has accepted your CS6 upgrade serial number and now wants you to enter your CS5 serial number to verify that you are eligible to use the CS6 upgrade serial number.

You do, of course, have a record of the serial number of every program you have ever purchased?

Depending on when you purchased CS6, it is possible your older version could anything from CS3 up thru CS5.5. There was a point in the middle of selling CS6 where they stopped allowing upgrades to go back that many versions. The activation will still work for the older versions as long as your CS6 serial number is from the earlier phase.
