Links to remote topics in merged projects

I am working on a product that requires a help file made up of the help files from several components. which are prepared by different writers. RoboHelp Help says that links to remote topics are supported only in RoboHTML, so ... does anyway know of a workaround? If not, is there one of the other web-based Help formats that support this? Or do I have to go back to RoboHTML?
