This was (as stated above) a big mistake. IMPORTANT CONCEPT: Never import photos a 2nd time. That's NEVER as in NEVER in a million years, not once, NEVER.
You could just change the drive letters in Windows back to what they were previously, that ought to fix the problem. It's the simplest solution.

chrissieb46468962 Oct 18, 2016 2:26 PM (in response to chrissieb46468962)Now I've lost the catalogue on "D"
Explorer says they're there LR says they're not
LR says there are 24000 on F (My main back up)
LR says there are 2000 on G (the one in the dock)
It's not much point in saying "Never" because I've probably done it.
The photos are there - probably 3 times - but LR needs to be overhauled - probably re-instated but I'd rather not if there is an alternative

dj_paige Oct 18, 2016 4:39 PM (in response to chrissieb46468962)Are the F: drive photos the ones you have imported?
You need to find the catalog file from before the drive crash

chrissieb46468962 Oct 19, 2016 3:26 AM (in response to dj_paige)The F Drive is the new drive I wanted as a back up. Tbh, I’ve done so many things I can’t remember whether I’ve catalogued it or not – presumably I have. Would it help to remove the F and the G catalogues

Just Shoot Me Oct 19, 2016 3:34 AM (in response to chrissieb46468962)you need to manually assign drive letters to your external drive so those letters never change.
Google "Assign drive letters to external drives in Windows" for a bunch of links on how to do this.
Once you do that no matter when the drives are connected they will always get the same drive letter.

I'm not sure this answers my question. I asked "Are the F: drive photos the ones you have imported?" Please answer yes or no.
Also, you haven't mentioned "back up" before in this thread, it's not clear to me what the relevance of "back up" is with respect to the problem you are describing.
Do you have the catalog file from before the crash? If not, can you try to find it?
