Choose "start/run" of what?  I'm not a computer person so don't know where to begin with your instructions.  If I click on the "Adobe Digital Editions 4.5" icon and go to "Help", I have the options of "authorize computer" or "erase authorization".  it's when I choose "authorize computer" and enter my ID and password that I get the error message.  I don't know what I need to "Start/run"  Sorry

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean.  Could we start from the beginning?  I need to install Adobe Digital Editions correctly so I am able to transfer ebooks from my Kobo library onto my Sony reader.  I have Adobe Digital Editions 4.5 installed but can't get the books to my eReader.

Hi Gayef6929,

You need to manually delete the activation file and then sign back in. Please follow these steps:

You must have administration authority.

On Windows it can be found here:
Open Windows Registry by using the command prompt and typing 'regedit' or by opening the start menu (Windows key + S is a shortcut) and searching for 'regedit'.

Search for the following folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept\Activation

The 'Activation' folder can be entirely deleted.

Restart ADE and it should be deactivated at this point. You should be good to sign back in and try the download again.
