I have just updated LR6 to LR6.7 . Windows now closes the programme soon after start up . any ideas anyone ?

Have you had previous updates of Lightroom 6 running successfully? Are there any error messages?

Yes LR6 runs fine but since I updated to 6.7 ( Down loaded from creative cloud ) it shuts down soon after starting up .
Check the Windows Event Log to see if any of the errors are getting logged.
