Cant select text in Indesign CC 2017

If I attempt to select text in the new Indesign, the program freezes. I've restarted 5x now. How can I enable the updated INDD to select text without freezing?

Try trashing the prefs. See Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your preferences

Hi Amy,

Could you please check the same workflow after unchecked the type Contextual control preference?

Navigate to Preference -> Advance Type -> Type Contextual controls and unchecked it.

Hi Vineet (and Amy).

I had the exact same problem. Turning off Contextual Controls DID make the problem go away. Then I re-checked the Contextual boxes, and the problem returned, so it's definitely the cause ... or related to it.

Problem resolved by disabling Type Contextual Controls (both checkboxes), which is great, but no longer have the CC2017.0 feature I most looked forward to. Look forward to a fix in future update.

Hi All,

A solution for this issue is provided at Troubleshoot text selection issues. Please try the steps mentioned in the link.

Note: You need not to turn off the preferences now with this solution, and should be able to work fine.
