Hi,

I'll need to get some additional information from you to troubleshoot the error.  Please do the following

1. Download process monitor to Desktop: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/processmonitor.aspx
2. Close down any non-essential applications
3. Right click on process monitor application (procmon.exe) and select "Run as Administrator"
4. Remove any entries which appear in the "Process Monitor Filer" dialog
5. Reproduce the installation issue (rerun the installer to reproduce the error)
6. Save the process monitor log (File->Save), in the In the "Safe To File" dialog:
   • Events to save: All events
   • Format: Native Process Monitor Format (PML)

In addition to the Process Monitor log file, provide the FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and an updated FlashInstall.log file from the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directory.  This ensures all log files are from the same installation attemp.

Upload all 3 files files to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document  and post the link to the uploaded files in your reply.

Is this the first time you try to install Flash Player on this system?  If you've previously installed Flash Player on this system the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory should exist.

It appears one, or more, of the 64-bit system dll's (Dynamic Link Library files) is missing, or corrupt.  We can try to find out which DLL is missing/corrupt but since you're using an old unsupported OS, even if we do find out which one is missing/corrupt it's possible you may not be able to find a replacement dll file.  Let me know if you wish to try to find the missing/corrupt dll file and I'll PM message you further information.

We don't release a separate 64-bit installer by itself.  Only the universal 32-bit that has both 32- and 64-bit.  I only provided that to find out the missing DLL.

Can you repeat the instructions I sent using the normal installer (that resulted in the error you originally reported)?

I think, problem is that the universal installer trying to install 32 bit version of flash player to 64 bit system.

Thank you for providing the log file.  We'll review it.

The 32-bit installer is a universal installer that installs both 32- and 64-bit versions of Flash Player on a 64-bit OS.  This is required because there are 32- and 64-bit browsers and apps that use Flash Player.  If you use a 32-bit browser (e.g. IE on your XP system) it'll use the 32-bit version of Flash Player.  If you have 64-bit Firefox installed, it'll use 64-bit Flash Player, and so on.
