delete files from Lightroom CC

Suddenly, I find I cannot delete files in the Library mode. I get the message that the file "cannot be moved to trash".

I use a iMac (10.10.5)

It does remove the file from the catalog

On what hard drive are the images store, internal or external? How is that drive formatted?

Are the images deleted and not moved to the trash or are they just removed from the catalog?

Hello,

I store my images on an external HD. The images are in dng format.

I can remove the image from the catalog but the program says it is

unable to delete it from the disk.

This development happened over 2 days. Earlier, - 2days prior - I was

deleting images as part of the process of importing and sorting images

from a shoot.
