Sliders not working in Develop

all the sliders in develop i.e. exposure, contract, highlights,shadows, clarity, saturation etc have stopped having an affect. the sliders are working but the

image on screen is not changing.

this happened when my smart pad went a bit funny one night and obviously unchecked a button somewhere without me knowing

any idea on how to get changes to show on screen?

What exact NUMBER version of Lightroom?

You might try deleting your preferences file  so that Lightroom can create a new one.

Is there a Local Adjustment tool 'active' (there will be a [Done] button below the photo window)

The Tool sliders look similar to the Basic Panel sliders and may confuse.
