Adobe AE won't import certain .mov files.

I have AE 2015.3 and I have been using it without problems for a month or two now. I can open almost all my .movs but when ever I try to import certain .movs from a file it says they are damaged or unsupported. I have QT as my default and have tried everything. My friend is having the same problem.

do you have quicktime installed in your system? CC2015.3 only supports imports of QT Animation and PNG but other codecs may require you install the essential components in the Quicktime installation.

QT means Quicktime, I have quick time as my default viewer.

What is the source of these files? What codec are they encoded with?

If the file opens in QuickTime, CMD+I shoud give some info and CMD+J should give more.

if I wrote QT in my response then it suggests I know what QT means. Quicktime can mean many types of codecs. you may not have the supported codec. I take these certain mov file play in Quicktime?

make sure you have the supported codec installed in your system. other than that this could mean a corrupted video file. you can also try to re-install quicktime. make sure you have the essential components checked.
