If the message is true then you have a couple of choices. You can import to a different hard drive, or you can add an external hard drive and import images onto that drive. How much free space do you have?

Thank you for the reply I am just on Adobe help desk having a chat so
fingers crossed it gets sorted. If not I will try your solution.
Many thanks

No need to contact Adobe. There is something on your system that is seeing your disk space as to low to import images to or it is REALLY low and you need to move or delete files to free up disk space.
To check the amount of free space on your C drive open the File manager and right click on C and select properties.

It does not matter if the FOLDER is EMPTY. It is the Total amount of FREE space left on your C drive.

Sorry but I don't know how to free up my used space as I have clicked on
compress file and disk cleanup and nothing has happened. If you do know the
answer could you guide me step by step please.

Do NOT Compress your drive, Please.
After clicking on "Disk Cleanup" what happens? Does any dialog box come up? How long have you waited?
Because your hard drive is full it take time for things to work. Windows uses the hard drive as Temp RAM, the swap/page file.
Open the File Manager, Windows or File Explorer (Not Internet Explorer), and select the C drive then the Windows folder then the Temp subfolder in the Windows folder and select everything in that Temp folder and press the Delete key,
NOTE THAT IS THE TEMP FOLDER INSIDE THE WINDOWS FOLDER, NOT THE WINDOWS FOLDER.
Then check the amount of free space. Please post the amount of free space.
