Why is this happening? Random images in Develop are all-white

Lightroom routinely causes these frustrations, and I cannot figure out why.

Today, it began in Develop, where every dozen or so images the image loads all-white. It won't go away. I can go to Previous image or Next image and they load, but the image in question remains all-white.

I have to exit Develop to Library, then load the image again. Easy fix, but frustrating beyond all belief to one's workflow.

And it's not my laptop. I only get these graphics/memory/frustrations in Lightroom. Why?

Hi,

Please clear your Lightroom cache and let us know if that helps.

Go to Preferences > File Handling to find the purge buttons for both the Camera Raw and Video cache.

Regards,

Akash

Thank you for these suggestions Akash - I was unaware of these 'purge' options.

FWIW I encountered this again this morning. While in Develop I went to Edit->Preferences->File Handling and purged the two cache options. Exited this dialog back to Library; loaded the image in question that was previously all-white and it was now viewable and editable. I proceeded to edit the next image, then, the next image was again all-white. I was able to edit two images before things went all-white again.

Done. I will report back if I still see the all-white screens.

I did not see the 'disabled due to errors' notice.

Hi nickynqns,

Since it's been 2 weeks since your last response and you said that you would report back if the issue occurs, I'm marking Akash Sharma's last response as the "Correct Answer." However, if you do see this issue come back, feel free to unmark his answer as the "Correct Answer" and reply back on this forum thread so we can continue to help.

Let us know either way if his solution was correct or not!

OK, thanks. Honestly with Thanksgiving and work/life I haven't launched Lightroom since around my last response.

Hope the 'graphics processor' setting resolved it w/o my knowing.

Cheers.
