I've just connected a second monitor to my laptop using an HDMI cable but in Lightroom its not acting as a second monitor.  Its just showing a repeat of what's on the laptop screen. When I click on the No 2 screen icon, I get a small floating image in a loupe format and its labeled secondary display but it appears on both screens

What settings have I neglected in order to get the dual screen functionality working

BTW I'm using a 5 year old HP laptop and a new Dell monitor. Ive connected them using the HDMI ports on both devices.

Help please

This is not a setting in Lightroom - use the OS to set the two screens correctly.

There are options which may vary depending on the graphic card. I assume you are on Windows, hit the Windows key + P to bring up a selection and select extend instead of clone/duplicate (I'm not sure about the exact naming on english Windows).
