I recently had this issue occur with Illustrator, too, which leads me to believe this is a common problem. Unfortunately I can't remember the solve that the support chat provided!

Anyway — when I try to open InDesign on my Mac, it times out and I have to force quit. I don't even get the dialogue window that it typically shows as it loads...the icon just bounces and doesn't stop until I force quit. It's driving me crazy! I have some work I need to do and Adobe support isn't available right now.

I've got the most up-to-date version installed, logged in and out of CC, and restarted my computer. No dice. Please help!

I reset my read / write permissions and that seems to have taken care of it. Thanks all!

Exactly what version of InDesign CC are you using? What operating system? Have you reset your preferences as suggested above?
