Trying to type into indent doesn't work

Upgraded to CC2017. I highlight a block of text or several blocks of text. I go to paragraph indent bar at top and type in .25 and most of the time the highlighted text will be replaced with a "25". It's bizarre. Sometimes I try to type .125 or .25 and it defaults to .118. Why is this happening? Here is a link to a QT movie I made of me trying to indent .25.

I can't reproduce that on my Mac with Mac OS X 10.12.1 and InDesign CC 2017.

Have you tried restoring your InDesign preferences:

Trash, Replace, Reset, or Restore the application Preferences

Hi,

I've seen a similar post here with workarounds suggested by staff. Of course, using paragraph and character styles will make your life a lot easier.

Regards,

Malcolm
