hi everyone,
can anybody invent a GREP-style for this text line?
first bit of the line is Meta BOLD/8,5 pt - then an arrow in WINGDINGS/6 pt - the rest of the text behind the arrow is in Meta NORMAL/7,5 pt.
see image below:
that would be great!
thanks,
karien
As long as you can type in the up/down arrows into the text, you can format it easily, I can do it with a Nested style and a GREP Style.
Then create two GREP styles. One for the Arrow up and the other for the arrow down. These only apply the color.

Hi Karien,
Is it a single para?
What is the text before Grep style? (screenshot with invisible metachars)
… It seems to be simple with 2 nested styles or 2 grep styles!

You cannot format the Wingdings arrow (triangle) if there is not already a character for it. And it must be the correct Wingdings character too.

Hi Jongware,
Obviously, not truly easy with Wingdings! … but with Wingdings 3. Personally, I won't do it! [just for comment]

hi,
there is an TAB before the arrow.
see below:
I use Wingdings 3 for the arrow. is that OK?or rather not?
the previous typesetter used this, so I have to follow his example...

Sandee,
If I clearly count: 3 nested styles and 2 grep styles!

Math was never my strong suit. However, I didn't realize there's no tab after the arrow, so that would have to be adjusted.

Maybe Maths, but you're singing apparently well! Not me!

thanks to all of you!
I think it's about time that I give myself a 'GREP-style course' as a X-maspresent...
or are there very useful sites or online courses?

Sandee's solution is wrong in your case, simply because Zapf Dingbats has not this kind of glyph (it was just a sample for me!).
You just need 2 grep styles (as I said above) [I've chosen for the triangle "Minion Pro" basic font]:
If you want to play it with nested styles, just do it with 2 ones (as I said too above);
If you want to learn Grep, begin by reading Master Peter Kahrel's books: Peter Kahrel - O'Reilly Media

hi obi-wan,
thanks for your reply. I'll try it out.
but as I showed in my first example: the first part of my paragraph is bold 8,5 pt en the text behind the arrow is normal 7,5 pt.
so there's also a difference there.
your screenshots are very helpful. I see that you have the options: "jusau'Ã " and ''sur", which I don't seem to have in my dutch version. I have only 2:
which means "jusqu'Ã " and "au maximum".
did you create "sur" yourself?
greetings,
k

First, define a para style with settings as you only have the text after the triangle.
So: Meta Normal 7,5 pt.
Then, include more options in the 2 char styles you use:
Bold-Blue: Meta Bold 8,5 pt
Minion Pro Triangle: Minion Pro 6 pt (sample)
On the last point:
