I am new to this forum, never tried it before so I am not positive how it works. If anyone can help with some guidelines, or with an answer to my question, thanks.

Good write-up!

The trick to moving/copying large numbers of files is to use the OS tools, Finder or Explorer.

Then when the files are in their new resting place, use the normal "find missing" or "relocate" options in LR's Folder panel to update the top-most folder with the new location.
