How do I make my photos remain large?

The size of my friend's photo (below) reduces in size after I select it  from the Library. (As in the second Screen Capture below. )

In this particular example the pic was taken on an iPhone and emailed to me for editing. Nevertheless this problem occurs even when taken on my own camera. Another perhaps relevant piece of information is that (I think) this only happens after cropping.

I'd seeking appreciate guidance.

What zoom value have you chosen in the Navigator? It seems like you have chosen 1:16 or 1:8.

The problem is probably not so much the zoom level, but that your friend sent you a very small image. Turn on the image info display and see what the actual pixel dimensions of the image are.

Yes, the 4x zoom will let you see the image as bigger, but that is just masking the real problem.

WHAT a difference between the iPhone (247 X 361) shot and my camera shot (2468 X 2929) !

Is there perhaps a way to increase the iPhone's resolution?

Most likely, the problem is the way the photo was sent to you.

Some text and email apps like to resize images before they send them.

Your best be would be to have the owner upload the full-size image to Drobox.com or the like then send you a URL to the image.
