Hi guys

when building a new projec abd deciciding on size can anyone tell me the relevance of the "Flash Player" bit of the presets (as in 790 x 555 Flash Player)?

I'm building a number of new projects for publication on an intranet and am going with the user guide recommendation of 800 x 600 - unless anyone tells me different???

Hi Robbie

In all my Captivate classes I advise folks to simply ignore the descriptive verbiage. I'm not sure how it is intended to help. All you are doing is configuring a specific pixel size.

Cheers... Rick

I **think** that is intended to run as a Flash file in a standard web
browser, running full-screen at 800*600 resolution. 790*555 would allow room
on screen for the standard browser menus etc (generally referred to as
"chrome") and the Flash (Captivate) file to be on screen at the same time
without any scroll bars showing.

As for what size you should use - what screen size are your users typically
using? If every screen in your company is set to 1024*768 or higher, then
you can bump up the size of your Captivate project - say to something like
1000*700 (too lazy to count) - and have more screen real estate to present
your content.

Yeah, the screensize can be whatever makes the most sense for your project, and what will be viewable by your audiece. If it's open to the "world," you've got to worry a lot more about different resolutions, 800x600 vs. 1024x768, etc., as well as consider browerbars like Yahoo, Google, etc.

In a corporate/professional enviroment, that's usually more controlled. For example, everyone at my work us IE and has a 1024 monitor, but some people manage to sneak in different toolbars, so I can't push it to the max. Most of my projects, I open in a new window of 850x638 with no toolbars, no scroll, and no resize. This gives a lot of screen without overwhelming the viewer.

Thanks to both Steve and MichaelC1 for their contributions. This place uses a locked down 1280x1024 res so I am going to bump it up somewhat to make it as useful as possible. As an aside, is their such a thing as a "formula" that can be used when determining max size? Thanks in advance.
