InDesign problem with entering info in windows (& tabbing through)

Since the 2017 upgrade, my colleagues and I have experienced a regular issue where we cannot input data/info into opened windows (ie paragraph attributes). This is an intermittent fault which occurs on 50% of attempts, and even tabbing through the fields doesn't guarantee a satisfactory result. Was hoping this would be fixed in an update, but no sign of it so far.

Thanks.

and / or

2. Navigate to Preference -> Advance Type -> Type Contextual controls and uncheck it.

Thanks very much for that, on first impressions it appears to have worked. I did use the search facility originally, but it threw up a load of unrelated threads. Will try to be more specific next time.

Thanks again for your help.
