Hello,
We're using the up-to-date version of InDesign 5.5 (7.5.3).
We have a 740-page book that was successfully exported to PDF.
However, when we attempt to create an epub file, InDesign crashes all the time.
Any thoughts, please?
Thank you,
Will

Try trashing your preferences, but if you're working with EPUB you should seriously consider moving to Creative Cloud. The tools in CS5.5 are nothing short of archaic compared to what's available now.

I did trash Preferences. Thank you for the suggestion. Any suggestions about how to troubleshoot the issue I spoke of, please?
Thank you,
Will

Mac OS 10.12.1 Sierra
This crash happens only with this 740-page file (print pages). There are no errors in documents, after running PreFlight

CS5.5 is completely unsupported under El Capitan and Sierra.
Beyond upgrading to Creative Cloud or rolling back to a supported operating system, you’re on your own, I’m afraid.

I encourage you to download the CC2017 trial. It’s fully functional for seven days.

Thanks again, BobLevine. I'm going to try to find a fix for my CS5.5 version for now. I pray someone assists me soon. Thank you.

There are some people that get this combination to work but that doesn’t mean you’ll be able to.
Not trying to talk you into or out of anything but you need to be prepared for the fact that you may never get this combination to work properly.

Prayer may be helpful, but if you insist on using CS 5.5, you'll probably have the best luck by finding an old computer with an earlier operating system. Most people can't get CS 5.5 to run reliably under Sierra or El Capitan.
