Hi All,

I've just purchased the Canon EOS M5 to supplement my current 7D2.  I have just noticed that I can't currently import raw files from the M5 using LR 2015.7.  Is this just one of those new camera support issue where an upcoming updated LR version will support the camera's RAW format?  For the moment I'm stuck using Canon's DPP but am just curious when EOS M5 support might happen.

Cheers,

Alex

Adobe lagging behind yet again.  This camera should have been available to them for testing at the point of announcement two months ago, if not earlier.

No, It's not "Adobe lagging". The delay is because of Canon introducing another variation of a proprietary raw format when they could have offered DNG as an option and had support from day 1. Second, Adobe don't get access to new cameras before they are released.

Good point, Pentax offers PEF or DNG.  Can't see why others won't.  Perhaps Canon want to try and get us to use their appalling software (DPP)!  Regardless of the reasons/excuses it's a poor show all round.

Sadly, it is too easy to blame Adobe and let the camera makers off the hook.

The camera makers have nothing to gain by developing their own raw formats.  Hopefully they will see sense one day and all go with DNG!

If you NEED/WANT Lightroom support for a camera than don't buy the camera until it is supported.  Thats the only thing the camera makers will understand.

No one in this forum knows. We are just users, not Adobe. And Adobe never announces these updates in advance.

Then I guess you'll have to wait for a new release/update of Lightroom that will support that camera. That's the way it works with every new model.
