Lightroom 6.8 Update - FAIL [Will not open due to missing DLL file]

So I updated my Lr to 6.8 last night (I do not have CC, I dislike subscription based software) and now it won't open saying that is missing a DLL file. The DLL missing is related to C++ Runtime.

Anyone else have this issue?

Sorry, I am not at home to get a screen shot; though, the missing DLL file is [api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll]

I have downloaded the DLL and placed in the System32 Folder, then I get the following error: "The procedure entry point ucrtbase.terminate could not be located in the dynamic link library api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll."

Thank you; though, the installer just sits at "Searching for updates on this computer"...

to make it worse, I cannot get 6.7 back...it's either 6.0 or bust

if you scroll up this thread by 6 posts to HeldInTheMoment's from 09.12.2016 15:46 you will find a link. Okay?

Hit it and another page will open. Some Computer programmer's help page, I guess.

Topic there is like 'MS office problem blabla'. But anyway.

Scroll down to the very bottom and find this message:

Actually, I didn't do the 'Kill all temp files' thing. Frankly, because I hadn't any idea, how to do the search.

What I did do is the 'clean boot'. A never seen before feature to me...

And finally I downloaded and started vc_redist.x64.

It took some time to finish, be patient (several minutes!).

To be on the safe side I rebootet once again, this time w/o 'clean boot'.

So make sure to reset the according msconfig option.

That's all. And LR 6.8 is functioning since.

Again I am running Windows7 x64.

As all links go back to Microsoft servers it should be safe from my point of view.

You may realize I am no computer nerd at all,still I could do it.

I still can't solve the problem on my computer. Running Win 7 (64). Tried all of the above actions. But no luck. I don't want to go back to LR 6.0.

Maybe Adobe has some answers !!!!

Yes.....when trying to run this.....I just get the window "searching for updates" which goes on forever!!!

Open Event Viewer and look for recent errors and then copy the crash log.
