I've just updated my InDesign desktop app and this annoying black box with white lines sits on top of everything and won't go away; how do I make it?

Thanks both. Restarting did nothing, removing Publish Online from Preferences worked a treat.

Looks like the nag screen for Publish Online is a bit wonky.

If restarting InDesign doesn't fix it, try trashing your preferences.

Try Bob's suggestions first, but if it continues to give you grief, you might try disabling Publish Online in Preferences:

I'm glad that disabling from preferences is the answer that worked for you and that annoying box is gone.

Bob's idea to publish a blank document would also work, as it goes away by itself when you do. Trashing Preferences might have also worked.
Sometimes there are several right answers, and one that is right for you.
(I am adding this for future viewers.)
