Entities are not converted to symbol when import xml file in InDesign CC 2015

When I import the xml file into InDesign CC 2015, all the entities (Quots, En dash, Hypen, Em dash accent characters etc) are dropped and not converted as symbols. Please guide me.

Is you encoding set to UTF-8 ? Quotes and dashes shouldn't be an issue at any level.

Are you using an OpenType font in your InDesign layout to format the content? I've had issues with this in the past and OpenType resolved it.
