We just build a few PCs to run Adobe for work at a much higher speed.
We are fairly knowledgeable in After Effects settings, but feel like we are missing somthing. They are running comparably to our old set up with had about half the specs of these computers. Also we have to run ALL of our projects in After Effects 2015.3 because After Effects 2017 has given us so many issues (mainly crashing).
Our company uses a lot of templates in each project, some as big as 300MB and we may use 2 or even three in each project. Also, most of our projects are simple animations with template assets placed throughout the project, almost no footage.
Settings in After Effects 2015.3:
GPU: (unsupported) enabled
Viewer Quality: (Faster)
Cache: on SSD
dadabase: on SSD
disk Cash: on SSD
Write XMP files: YES
Create markers from XMP Metadata: YES
Disable video output when in BG: YES
RAM reserved for others: 6 GB (giving AE 26 GB)
What I’m asking is;

- Is everyone having a hard time with the new After Effects 2017?
I can say that I am pleased with this version and so far it is my favorite.
my setup is Win7 on GTX970 32GB RAM i7 6700k OC 4.5GHZ
I find it better in performance and U.I responsiveness, it has less annoying bugs that are relevant to my workflow (like the unfolding bug in 2015.3 Re: Annoying layer unfolding for example) and I am using it constantly.
here's an example of performance boost same project 13.8.1 vs 14.0 : 14.0-Performance.mp4 - Google Drive
I know for a lot of Mac users 14.1 has been a great relief with finally the real-time playback issue was resolved (mostly) After Effects 2015 won't preview in real time after El Capitan update. (360 replies and counting...)
hope you get some decent answers in this thread

Hi devinmorris,
Was Roei's answer satisfactory? If so, give him an up vote by marking his answer as "Correct." It would be so appreciated!
