Copying collection photos to new file location

Hi,

I'm sure this is answered somewhere here but I'm not clever enough to find it -- if someone could point me to the best answer. Thx.

I have about 700 photos from a recent trip and have culled them down in a 300-pix LR5 collection.  I want to send a flash drive to some friends who are internet bandwidth challenged and simply want to select the photos I've chosen and copy them to the flashdrive.  They do NOT have LR.

I've tried the "export" button but that just seems to copy out the LR collection meta data not the specific photo files I've chosen (I think it copied all the files -- even ones I didn't choose).

What am I doing wrong, what's the easiest way to do this?

Thanks,

-- Nat

It sounds like you are doing it properly.

These are the exact steps I would use:

  1. In Lightroom, select the desired photos
  2. File->Export... and then select the desired destination, which is the flash-drive. Make sure the file format is set to JPG or TIF.
  3. Click the Export button at the bottom of the Export dialog box.
