Hi,
When importing images via Lightroom I am no longer able to rename files or choose their import location as both panels are missing.
I am using Lightroom CC 2015.8 and Mac OS 10.12.1
Any help would be much appreciated.
Graham
Try deleting or renaming your Lightroom Preference file.

Right-click (Windows) or command-click (MAC) on the words File Handling. A menu will appear that will allow you to select Renaming and Destination.

Thanks dj_paige
I have tried this but the only options available in the menu are File Handling and Apply During Import. File Renaming and Destination are unavailable.

You tried command-click on the words File Handling? Then a menu will drop down and allow you to select the other (currently missing) panels. Are you saying that this drop down menu does not include File Renaming and Destination?

That is exactly what I'm saying. See attached screenshot.

Hi, am having the same problem with no destination panels available with my folder structure. I am using a new Mac; never had this issue with my old one. When you suggested to GrahamMadillUK to try deleting or renaming the Lightroom Preference file, what do you mean? I don't know where to find this.

The link I gave tells you where to find the Preference File, you go into your operating system and delete the file.

Note that on Mac, simply deleting the preferences file usually doesn't work, since the operating system caches its current contents and they'll come back. Better to follow the steps in this article: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

Thank you John; I moved the Preferences file to another folder but it
doesn't seem to have had any impact. The destination folders to import to
still don't appear on the right side of my LR5 screen. Any other thoughts?
Appreciate your help!

Did you reboot your computer after moving it to another folder? Otherwise, OS X will just recreate the preferences when you restart LR. Best to follow the procedures here: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/articles-page/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

I did restart it, yes. Should that work?

Provided you didn't start LR again before rebooting.

Triple-check you've selected Copy or Move (not Add) in the Import window before you right-click File Handling:
Also, if your Import window looks like this, then click the triangle in the lower left-corner to expand it:
If neither of these helps, then post a screenshot of your entire Import window right after you've right-clicked File Handling FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video?

Hi John
I can't access the forum link or get on the website for some reason due to
system error, as I wanted to send you a screen shot. Anyway, I am trying
to copy as DNG but don't get that drop down menu you sent the screenshot
of. Neither with copy as DNG or Copy. How do you get that? I'm trying to
import from a card reader if that makes any difference (can't believe it
does as I'm only doing what I've always done in the past.)
Thanks again for your help.

Point your mouse in the exact middle of the words "File Handling" and right-click.

The only File Handling I can see is far right of screen. Right clicking on
it doesn't do anything except shrink that bit.

You don't right click on the triangle to the right of the words "File Handling". You point your mouse in the exact middle of the words "File Handling" and then right-click.

Hi, you'll be pleased to hear the problem is resolved...had to do ctrl and
click rather than just the right click which did nothing.
I've now got my folders ))
Thanks for your patience!
I can't access the forum chat however to leave feedback, but thanks again.

Glad you finally got it resolved.

There's something different about your computer. Does right-click work in other applications, e.g. right-clicking a file in the Finder? Are you using a mouse, a trackpad, or a tablet and pen?
