I am using a 27" iMac and have the latest version of Lightroom installed. I was trying to add text to individual slides and found in the help section "To display a caption that is different for each slide, click the Custom Text pop-up menu and choose a metadata option." However when I look click the custom text the pop-up does not last metadata as one of the options available. Does anyone know where it has gone and how to get it back?
Thanks, Steve/
To add captions to individual slides, go to Library and add those details to photos in the Metadata panel. Then you can use the text controls in Slideshow to display the contents of those fields.

Hi John, thanks for the reply. Your answer works just fine, but what if I don't want to have a caption for every picture? Is there a way to just have text on some of the photos but not all of them?
Thanks, Steve.

In those cases you would not write anything in the caption field in Library. Slideshow then has nothing to pull into the text object.
You may also want to look into virtual copies as these allow extra flexibility in this situation. Let's say a photo has info in its caption field but you don't want that to be shown in the Slideshow. Here you create a VC, clear its caption, and use the VC rather than the master photo in the Slideshow.
