I found my presets after the update was not set up preset folder.

But it failed to set the backup catalog that I am still not working! I also tried to set a different path to another drive, always with bad results.

Have you checked the permissions on the folder you are trying to use for the catalog backup. Since you are using Windows you have to make sure your user name has Full Control of that folder and any Top Level folder it might be a subfolder of.
