Importing photos from "Aperture"

I just received LR6 for Christmas and am totally new to Lightroom and have no previous Photoshop experience. I have primarily used Aperture for years but because Apple is not going to support this software in the future, I decided it might be best to switch to Lightroom now. Is there a way to import my photos into Lightroom from Aperture? Reason is that I have every photo already arranged into Projects (Folders)  by event and date.

The Import application seems to want me to identify a specific folder rather than my Aperture library. I do have all of my originals into separate file folders, but any changes I have made reside in Aperture.

Yeah as far as I know you are between a Rock and a Hard Place.

You can directly import your images into the LR catalog (which is just a Database file) and leave your images exactly where they are now (that is if you do have them in folders on your hard drive). But his will remove any edits you have done in Aperture.

Or take a look at this Google search for a ton of links on how to do it directly from Aperture to LR.

You said that you will lose all the edits you made in aperture. Does that mean that your photos will look different or as they were before you edited them?! Please tell me no!

Thank you for the help. I did find a way to start moving things to LR yesterday late. It is still running as I have a fairly large library. I searched a link you sent and read through it quickly. This link seems to give me a broader knowledge of what to do and what is happening, which builds on your comments. So, thank you again very much.
