Windows 10/64 - Latest updates

I am working on a magazine and when I attempt to use Zapf Dingbats in InDesign CC2017, the font will not load either from the system fonts or Suitcase Fusion. In the font dialog box, the name of the font is in parenthesis and the glyph window is blank. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the font and deleting preferences, even bought and installed a new font. Strangely enough. The font works fine in illustrator. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on with this?
Thanks,

Joe

What type of font are you using? I would strongly recommend not to use T1 fonts, but OTF fonts instead.
