Why is my lightroom 6 not responding and will not open up at all

Hi Virginiav,

• Are you using a Mac or Windows machine?
• Please ensure you are using the latest version 6.8 of Lightroom.See Keeping Lightroom Up-to-Date
• If Lightroom opens and freezes right away, Please refer Adobe Lightroom GPU Troubleshooting and FAQ  and manually disable the use of graphics processor in Lightroom.

Open the folder containing your Lightroom catalog and preview files and check whether there is a file with lrcat.lock extension.  If this file is present you should delete it then try restarting Lightroom.
