My iMac running OS 10.10.3 was successfully running CS3 PS & AI. Upgraded to MacBook Pro and attempted to activate the software on OS 10.12. After starting "setup" receive error message: Startup error - Required resources missing.
If my memory is correct it seems I had this problem with a previous reloading and activating of a Mac OS with the solution being directed to an apple support page to download an older version of something.
HELP! Thanks,... Dave
that was java but i don't think that will help you with sierra and software that old. if you get far enough into the installation to see a java error, then you'll know you're ready to install java support.
Get Java for your Mac - Apple Support
but try this first even though your error message may not seem related to the issue discussed.

I've been successfully helping out CS5 users with reinstalls on their Sierra Macs.
CS5 extended and this will answer questions. https://blog.conradchavez.com/2016/06/16/macos-10-12-sierra-will-adobe-software-work/
If you have problems and need to reinstall, have a look at this thread.

Thank you both for your suggestions,... unfortunately neither fixed the problem. The Java 6 Runtime 2015-1 load successfully. I restrated the computer and tired to install PS & AI. Same error came up during setup and failed to install.
