Adobe Muse Enhanced by Dreamweaver

After more in-depth reading I understand that Muse cannot handle PHP requests. Okay, fine. So how come other people can make it happen? A service like MusexPress wants 80$ a year from me to do what Adobe Muse should already be able to do. All I have to do is drop a widget inside a design to style dynamic content. Muse already allows the user to host locally in order to preview their design in a browser... Why can't it do the same with PHP databases? It should be able to handle at least simple data table of names or photographs, and I don't buy the "this is the limitations of WYSIWYG editors"excuse... Come on now.

Muse has so much potential. I'm not a web developer, and I'm definitely not an application programmer. But I can still think of so many different ways it can handle simple PHP jobs. One possibility is a more thorough integration with Dreamweaver. Rather than having to export my design into HTML and yadda yadda yadda, I should be able to carry it over with no restrictions.

Dreamweaver itself also doesn't have database tools without purchasing extensions from companies like DMX Zone.You have to program them yourself. There is just too much other factors when adding database access as there is literally thousands of web hosting setups out there and very few with exact same server setups it would be pretty much impossible to do and have it compatible with all servers hosts. MuseXpress can do it because they have it set up to host the data on their own servers. Thats what your 80$ a year goes towards.

I know there are so many things you can do with PHP and it would be impossible to turn them all into widgets. But there needs to be a greater strive towards adding simple functional features -- as mentioned: user sign-ups, e-mail forms, even dynamically loaded pages with stand-still menus. Muse already has a Master Page function set up, where things like menubars are applied to every page and the rest of the content is loaded from child pages. Also, I understand that PHP needs to be hosted on the web in order to function. Muse already has a Preview Page in Browser feature that hosts the website locally. Why can't it do the same thing for a database?

And what is MusexPress doing that Muse can't do? Am I paying 80$ for their hosting? Or am I paying 80$ to have them actually "convert" or "optimize" the theme I made for PHP compatibility? If the latter is the case, how come they can figure out how to do it, but the chefs over at Adobe cannot? That doesn't make sense.

It would require the user to have a server like MAMP (Mac) or WAMP (Windows) installed on the computer. PHP is compiled server side - not in a browser. So in order for PHP to preview in a browser locally you would need to have one of those installed. And even more difficult Muse would have to be set up so that the temporary html files that it uses for preview in a browser would have to get installed into the web server (WAMP or MAMP) and a local address be generated.

The other aspects you mentioned such as sign up forms and such can be done now if you host with Business Catalyst and have some basic Business Catalyst knowledge.

Maybe a step in the right direction would be to first add a function that allows somebody to use a folder publicly shared on their network to act as a server? Whatever the solution is, we need to spearhead a conversation and think collectively so that we can see some results. Muse is good software, but much like Adobe XD it lacks some core functional features before it can even be considered for professinal use.

I understand that BC provides some of these services, but this is hindering when designing work for other clients who don't want to switch hosts just to work with me.

I recommend you take a look at software called Publiz... sounds like what you need mate

So can I, as long as you host with Adobe BC, don't want to run a shop or are happy to be hacked from time to time... does kid porn on your server make a problem for you?

I agree it needs to 'play well with Dreamweaver' better but the guys over at the Dreamweaver end don't really want it to... once the Muse sites are hosted they can be played with by Dreamweaver (Brackets or whatever) and people that use Dreamweaver should know their php codes.

Therefore, you do not understand why... MusexPress - it is the fifth leg of the dog. If to pay $ 80 per year, then for Divi 3.0, but not for MusexPress and other such nonsense.

Perhaps Adobe ever to make CMS  for Muse . But if you have worked with CMS, it should be understood that Muse be not the same. Disappear all drag and drop opportunities. Because CMS has a rigid layout with modular positions. And building design will be necessary according to the rules of block layout.
