What does the II mean after Contact Sheet II in Photoshop?
Photoshop went up to 7, then switched to CS, up to CS6, and then to CC and currently it’s at CC 2017 – I guess it makes sense to number software if you
• expect any improvements over time and
• want to allow users to determine which exact version/s they are using

I suppose those are roman numerals.

My guess too. I'm wondering, though, is this the second version of Contact Sheets? What does the II (or 2) mean? Why is it not just "Contact Sheet"?

Way back in Photoshop 5.5 there was Contact Sheet. This was improved in Photoshop 6.0 and named Contact Sheet II. It has been named that way since.
