Hi really hoping someone can give me a simple method for upgrading Lightroom.

I have been using Lightroom 4 but have been having problems with my Macbook (2012) and about to wipe all and put a new SSD drive and ram in.  Because everything has been a bit glitchy, I am also thinking that I should get a newer version of Lightroom.  I think that I was just hoping to get a stand alone version of Lightroom 5.

What steps do I need to take to make sure that all the work that I have done in LR won't be lost?  And what's the best method of upgrading to a newer version of Lightroom?

Hi,

A stand alone version of Lightroom 5 is no longer available. You can buy only Lightroom 6. If you need a upgrade from a previous version you have to go to the Adobe shop (http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_mostpopular.html).

Here you'll find some tipps to install the upgrade: http://www.davidmarx.com/how-to-upgrade-to-adobe-photoshop-lightroom-6-for-the-current-lightroom-user/

Because everything has been a bit glitchy, I am also thinking that I should get a newer version of Lightroom.

Without more details, we can't say that a new version of Lightroom will eliminate of the glitches. Can you be specific?

Essentially if you're going to wipe out everything, you are moving to a new computer. Here are the instructions for doing this:
