Lightroom ver 1

Just bought a secondhand camera which had Lightroom 1 and Photoshop elements 5 software.

The latter runs fine but the lightroom will not. I put int the serial number the red cross turns into a green tick but it won't run.

I phoned customer support who says they don't give support and also tried tech chat with a similar result.

any ideas please

Mac or Windows, and EXACTLY which version of the operating system?

Recent Mac AND Windows operating systems have been known to cause "odd" problems

Are you using a computer Administrator account with full read/write permission?

What is the exact error message that you see?

Windows 10 it loaded for 30 days and ran but won't let me back in

Could you explain exactly what you see that makes you say "won't let me back in"? What happens?

When you tried before and entered your serial number and then wouldn't run ... exactly what happens? Describe in detail.

If there is an error message, please quote the complete exact unedited word-for-word error message.

Although it accepts the code it reverts back to enter your details and the code again. Despite getting the green tick the program won't open.

Are you running it in Compatibility Mode? LR 1 is ten years old. Probably needs XP/Vista compatibility. Download LR 1.4.1 (the last update to LR 1.0) and put your serial number in there.

If you have successfully serialized it with the number you received, it should work forever. After you have advanced in your photography skills you may want to splurge on upgrading to the modern version. The difference between Vs. 1 and the current Vs. 6 is much more than day and night, maybe noon and midnight.
