Hi guys. I have a character holding a coffee cup. Her arm will be in front of her as she talks, and occasionally she'll lift the cup to her lips. However, to make this work I need the hand to rotate on its origin so the cup stays level as she raises it. Is this possible? I think it's an option in Duik, not sure if Character Animator can manage that. Also, is there a way to export tracking data with the animation back to AE, so I can have Particular make steam coming out of the cup? I can probably just track the cup and get the same results, but it seems like there should be a more elegant way.

Really exciting new tool, though!

Yep, check out this example guy I put together: https://adobe.ly/2iQOA32

The arrow will always point up no matter where the hand is.

  • Make the cup independent with a +.
  • Staple it to its parent (hand or arm).
  • Change the attach style in the right properties to hinge.

Currently there is no tracking data export to AE, but more metadata between the two apps is a common request - I'll add your name to the list of supporters.
