Go to Document Setup in the : it is under FILE menu. You will see a check box on the right side called : "FACING PAGES" , click that OFF, and your pages will stack on top and go top to to bottom.- ok when you view. It will NOT be in a SPREAD view*.
You can also use a key shortcut to go to that Document Setup Window  : Command / Option /P,  combination.

If you want the spine to view horizontally (as in a calendar) try Pages>Page Attributes>Rotate Spread View. Rotated page have an icon to their right in the panel:
