Navigator Behavior after a Change of Rating

I am using Lightroom (Navigator) to adjust ratings of some images in a collection.  As a first step I have assigned colors to all of the images in the collection and I am working on just the images of one color at a time, adjusting the rating.  It is convenient for me to have the images sorted by rating; however this creates a problem.

When I change the rating of an image, that image moves (in the film-strip), possibly quite far away.  Is there some way to set a preference to instead automatically select the next image before adjusting the rating instead of following that image to a new position?

If not, I might suggest that this option would be quite useful.

First, make sure that no filters are active. Press Ctrl+L (Cmd+L on a Mac) to disable filters.

Then hold down Shift while rating, i.e. press Shift+1 to give an image a rating of 1. This will apply the rating and select the next image.
