Just curious, is this normal?

All of a sudden I've been noticing that my soft brushes look weird, but because I've been trying new techniques and styles, I can't be 100% certain.  I'm curious as to whether it's normal for a hard brush's indicator to look jagged like this.  Maybe it's just my imagination, maybe I never really paid attention until now, but if it isn't normal please let me know how to fix it because my work has been looking strangely grainy lately, it's been driving me insane because I can just 'see' the graininess even zoomed out and I don't know if it's my imagination or not.  If I'm positive, in the past even the hard brush was represented by a flat circle.

Sorry that the image is so small, not sure if zoom in is an option here as I don't use the community often.

I think this effect is due to your zoom amount: you're around 300%. Try to see your drawing at 100%.
