Lightroom CC 2015.8 or finder cuts off my catalog name

Since I have the newest version of Lightroom CC (2015.8) every time I create a new catalog (I make a new catalog for every event), Lightroom of finder cuts parts of my catalog name.

For example:

If the name should be "2017.01.10. event", Lightroom or finder shortens this to "2017.01.10".

If the name should be "2017.01.10 event", Lightroom or finder shortens this to "2017.01"

If the name should be "2017.01.10. event.", Lightroom or finder keeps this name.

So it seems, that Lightroom or finder cuts everything off, which is after the last "."

My OS is macOS Sierra (10.12.2) and I'm using a Mid 2015 Macbook Pro (15.4 inch).

Is anybody experiencing the same problem or knows how I can fix this or is it just a bug?

Hello. I wouldn't ask if it never worked. But actually it worked and avoiding periods is no solution because my projects are organized like this.

So, if this means you'd like to leave the projects in files with periods in the name, then you have to accept that fact that operating systems and software (like Lightroom) sometimes have problems with file names that have periods in them. It's your choice.

Would you accept it, if it has worked (for years) and now stopped? You would do the same and ask the community.

Can please anybody try the same and tell me if it works?

I wouldn't be in that situation, so asking if I accept it is irrelevant.

The fact remains that software and operating systems are inconsistent when periods are in the file names. This has been clearly demonstrated many times; and just because it worked for years doesn't mean it's going to continue to work with the next versions of software and operating systems. Even if you can get it to work somehow, there's no guarantee it will continue to work.

If you avoid using .  / ; : \ * ? < > = + ^ [ ] at a minimum and maybe a few others to you won't have these kind of problems.
