Hi Sonny Jr.
I don't know how often it happens with Animate specifically, but there have been on and off occurrences of the "stopped working" error with a variety of Adobe apps since CC2017 was launched. Here are some things that have worked for other folks.

Finally, if all else fails, you can always step back to CC2015 until you get through your homework at least: Download and install Creative Cloud apps previous versions.
Let us know how it goes!

You're welcome! Did you get it working again? If you did and you don't mind sharing the solution, it could help other people with the same issue.

Hi Sonny Jr.
To make sure you get the best advice, it would help to know more about what you are trying to do. Your question uses the same language as the step-by-step instructions for running the CC Cleaner Tool. Is your goal to use the Cleaner Tool for Animate CC2017?
If that is your goal, be aware that backing up is only necessary if you have installed third-party plugins or custom profiles you want to save. If you haven't added these to your version of Animate, you can skip to Step 2 of the instructions. If you have added something, however, back up the files by navigating to the Adobe Animate program folder, which is in Program Files\Adobe on a PC or in Applications on a Mac. You will find files saved somewhere within; for example, in a subfolder titled Plugins. From there you can copy whatever you want to backup to a new location for safekeeping while you clean.
If running the CC Cleaner Tool is not your goal or if this response otherwise doesn't answer your question, I would recommend making a new discussion to ask for help rather than replying here. Someone has marked this thread as "Answered", which means most of the community won't look at it even if new responses are added because they think the issue is resolved.
