Hello!
I'd like to know if there's a way to save metadata to a sidecar file (.xmp or maybe .exif) that Adobe - Photoshop and Lightroom - can "understand"?
I need to save some metadata (particularly XMP dc Subject and XMP dc Creator) for jpeg files but keep MD5 of those files intact. I'm aware of alternative data streams (and i'm pretty sure they actually doesn't work in Photoshop) but wanted to know if easier method exists.
E.g. i have a "test.jpg" file and i create "test.jpg.xmp" file and write metadata to it instead of the original image. I've obviously tried that and it didn't work but maybe i just messed with the xmp file contents and it's actually possible.
Thank you!
Here's a good discussion on it: How to use XMP sidecar files for JPEGs in Lightroom
