LR6 crashing any time in opening

I just bought a lightroom 6 and installed to my desktop with windows 10. It keeps crashes any time when I click on it. The first page shows 5 seconds then crashed. After one hour waiting for chatting with Adobe,  I found the support team is not working in the weekend. Can someone help me? I need step-by-stepinstructions for the correction.

I have LR4 in the same computer, it is still working, but act funny after I installed LR6, something has missing.

No, I don't use CC. I use LR4.4.

You wrote that you use LR6 and that it shows the issue. LR6 shares the code with LR CC 2015.

The GPU is not used in LR4 since GPU acceleration has been introduced with LR6/CC2015.

So what should I do? My desktop is ACE Aspire XC-603 with Pentium (R) 2.4 GHz processor, 4.0 GB Ram, Intel (R) HD Graphics 4600 graphic card, I guess these should meet the minimum requirements. I followed the instruction to rename SL Cache and SL Store, not work. Tried rename Lightroom 6 preferences.agprefs, not work. Tried to turn off the GPU by changing the line useAutoBahn in the file of Lighroom 6 preference.agprefs, but just can't find the line or word spells useAutoBahn. Tried to update my graphic card drive, it is said no update for it. Tried to upgrade the graphic card drive for window 10, it was said the recommended drive is not compatible for my computer.  I just don't know what else should I do.

I think my computer meets the system requirements, and it works with LR4 very well, but this is LR6, so I wounder if there is some problem, although I think it still meet the requirement. My computer is ACE Aspire XC-603 with a Dell 24 inch monitor U2412MB. The computer come with Window 8 but up graded to 10, Processor is Pentium(R) 2.4GHz, has 4.0GB of RAM, Intel (R) HD graphics 4600, 1TB hard drive, now is about 800 GB storage space available. The computer has a DVD drive, and Internet connection.  The name of the graphics card drive is Intel HD graphic driver version 10.18.10.4276, the computer said it is up to date. I don't know if the Processor is with SSE2 support or not. I don't know what is not compatible with the LR6, can you give me a suggestion? Thank you again.

Another clue: any time when I launch the LR6, there will be a window pop up, said"We need to upgrade your catalog for use with Lightroom 6", then direct the upgrade destination to C:\Users\Jesse(my user name)\Pictures\Lightroom\Lightroom Catalog-18.lrcat. Is that right? should I agree? I always choose agree.

Of course you need to agree to upgrade the catalog. LR6 needs it to update, it can not work with an older catalog.

It creates a copy of your existing catalog and upgrades it.

If it asks again it might be possible that you are trying to again open the old catalog instead of the new, upgraded copy.

Your graphic card driver is outdated. The most current for the Intel HD 4600 is (from Microsoft): 20.19.15.4531 from 29.06.2016

Please update it using Microsoft update or download directly from Intel (may be even newer but with a different numbering).

Thank for your time, Mr. McLion. I went to Intel driver upgrade website, and found the drivers that suppose to work on my Intel HD graphics 4600. I tried latest version 15.40.28.4501 first, but it did not work. It was said "The computer does not meet the minimum requirement for installing the software". I then tried several earlier versions, none of them worked. It was said that "A customized computer manufacture driver is installed on your computer". Did you run it? What does the device manager show?

If you try to install a manual download from MS or Intel make sure to right click and run as Administrator.

If the update function of your Windows does not offer an update to the driver it's going to be a bit more complicated to get the correct one from Microsoft. You need to read out the exact Hardware-ID from the device manager and find the correct one from within the listed ones. If you open the details of an entry in the catalog the HW-ID's they belong to are listed.

You may want to try the tool to autodetect the latest and correct driver from Intel.

I followed the Intel Driver Update Utility step-by-step to find the specific update vision for my driver twice, it all point to version 15.33.43.4425. But the installation failed, it said "the driver being installed is not validated for this computer". I contact B/H photo where I bought my LR6 from, they said the processor and graphics card of my computer do not meet the requirement for LR6. I checked the requirement of processor for LR4 and LR6, both are "Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64, 64 bit support", LR6 also recommended  Dual core HD or AVCHD video functionality. In terms of graphics card, LR6 require DirectX 10-capable or later graphics card. LR4 did not mark a specific requirement. What is Direct 10-capable? If my Intel HD graphics 4600 meet this requirement? The guy in B/H said I should know it before I buy the LR6. How can I know it? I am not a computer nerd. Likely they want to sell me a new computer. I know my computer is cheep and a kind of outdated, but I use it for photo edition only in the past two years, and it worked perfectly with my LR4, although my computer has Pentium, not Pentium 4 processor. Confused.

the Intel HD4600 works perfectly with LR6. It even works with activated GPU acceleration. I have a Intel HD4600 in my i7-4790. However, with my 1920*1200 display there is no gain in speed with the GPU activated due to the CPU being very powerful as well.

Did you install the anniversary upgrade to Win10?

Please check on the CPU type information. I'm sure it's not a Pentium since this would be very old and in turn would mean that you can't have a Intel HD4600.

Yes, I installed the newest upgrade for my Windows 10.

The information of my CPU type is:

Intel (R) Pentium (r) CPU J2900 at 2.41GHz  2.41 GHz

I know It is too old, I did not pay attention to the type of processor when I bought this computer in 2014 (actually, I did not have the knowledge about Pentium generations at that time). It works perfectly with LR4, so I think it should work with LR6.

Please check your access rights for all folders LR uses. You need to have read and write (full) access.

If it does not help:

I'd remove all of LR6 and Adobe CC Desktop Application. After the de-installation I'd clean/remove the LR6 folders.

DO NOT remove the *.lrcat files - they probably are located in your picture folder.

Then, after a reboot, try to reinstall LR6, reboot and try to start it.

Are you working with so many catalogs or did you start LR6 so many times and created a new copy every time?

You need to copy/upgrade the LR4 catalog once and from then on use this converted catalog with LR6. LR usually opens the last catalog automatically with its default settings. If that's not working something with your write permission in one of the location (probably the preference file location) is wrong and that's why I first want you to check on these permissions.

You can not go back and use the LR6 catalog with LR4.
