Hallo,

Wie kann ich in Adobe Lightroom eine Smart-Sammlung anlegen, die Bilder mit unbekanntem/leeren Aufnahmedatum sucht?

Gruß

Translation: How can I create a smart collection in Adobe Lightroom, looking for images with an unknown/empty date?

There are two ways to find photos with unknown capture date.

The easiest is to use the Date column of the Library Filter's Metadata browser:

Save this as a Library Filter preset if you'll be using it much.

Alternatively, define this smart collection:

To get the nested criteria, hold down Alt / Opt and click the "+" button.

Note that LR has a long-standing bug with unknown capture dates

The Any Filter plugin by John Ellis is a good tool for search types not available as a Smart Collection:

Any Filter Lightroom Plugin

Here's an example:

Note that LR has a long-standing bug with unknown capture dates -- it will sometimes show the file last-modified date or file created date for photos that have no capture dates in their metadata.  But both these methods (filters and smart collections) appear to find such photos anyway.

Thanks John–You are the Metadata Guru! A Smart Collection using Capture date is after 1000-01-01 is Not True appears to find files that have no date entry in the EXIF, XMP, IPTC and File System Date Taken fields.

Just out of curiosity is it possible to implement this search using Any Filter? I'm trying to understand how the different date fields work. Thank You!

Is it possible to implement this search using Any Filter?

Yes, you can use the "is unknown" operator:

Unfortunately, this can give different answers than the Library Filter and smart collection criteria above, due to LR's buggy handling of files missing some or all EXIF date/times.   Usually Any Filter will find a larger set.
