Hi all,

I'd like to upgrade my laptop for better performance in Premiere Pro CC 2017. Any suggestions (and maybe prices) for hardware / software improvements?

Thanks in advance.

that cpu is slow, its only dual core. a new laptop with a i7-7700hq 4-core cpu, gtx 1050 4gb or 1050 ti, 16gb ram, and an ssd or two will be around 2-3x faster and may cost around $1200. if you just want to upgrade your lenovo, you can look at upgrading to 16gb of ram and adding/upgrading-to a sata ssd. there are also usb 3 ssd if needed. ram and ssd could cost between $200-$300 depending on sizes.

Thanks for the fast response Ronin! I ordered an extra 8GB of RAM and I will also upgrade to a 250GB ssd.

Adobe CC gives the opportunity to install one of the older Premiere Pro versions (CS6, CC, 2014, 2015, 2015.3 and 2015.3bis). Do you believe an older version will work more smoothly on my 'older' Lenovo and if yes, which version should I try?

i'm not sure which version would be fastest, but newer versions will have built-in proxy options to help if the lenovo is struggling. beyond that i hesitate to recommend a certain version as it would be very difficult to navigate the impact of bugs and broken features in the different versions.
