Unable to Export from LR to Desktop

My photos can't be exported, from LR to desktop, it is saying photo is not there but I can see it

Create a folder on your desktop. Then export the image to that folder. At least on my Windows 10 computer, I cannot export directly to the desktop. I have to create a folder and export to that folder.

Maybe you can see it in the Lr library- but that is only a preview thumbnail.  Is there a ! on the photo border, or a ? on the folder name, which would indicate that Lr does not know where your original photo files are. (missing- moved or renamed?) The original must be available for Lr to create an exported version.

In reply to Jim- "I cannot export directly to the desktop".  that is strange. I have no trouble in exporting any image to the desktop. Noting that the Desktop folder physical location is buried like-  { C:\Users\Your Name\Desktop } and the export dialog must show this full pathway to the location.

I have a Mac.  Yesterday, I could export pictures to folder on desktop.  today, tried the same thing and it won't export.!
